Scientific Equine Technology is involved in many sales utilizing science and technology to evaluate and predict performance in the thoroughbred race horse. Over our 30+ year history, the work we do leads to ultimate success on the track and in the breeding stables of our clients. The following is an example of the results of work throughout the breeding industry.

TAPIT

Tapit was purchased for $625,000 at a Keeneland Yearling Sale. He would go on to capture the G3 Laurel Futurity as a two-year-old as well as the G1 Wood Memorial in April of his three-year-old season. Retired to stud in 2001, Tapit would eventually emerge as one of the most influential and breed-shaping stallions of the past century. At this writing, Tapit has sired 25 Grade 1 winners, 81 Graded Stakes winners, seven Champions, and five Breeder’s Cup winners. His progeny have earned more than $150 million on the racetrack.

GUN RUNNER

Gun Runner won 10 Graded Stakes races including Grade 1 wins in the Clark Handicap and Grade 1 Stephen Foster at Churchill Downs, the Grade 1 Whitney and Grade 1 Woodward at Saratoga, the Grade 1 Breeder’s Cup Classic at Del Mar, and capped his brilliant career with a win in the $16,000,000 Pegasus World Cup. He was honored with Eclipse Awards as Champion Older Male and Horse of the Year.

COVFEFE

Covfefe was a $250,000 purchase at Keeneland September yearling sale. Covfefe won her debut in her 2-year-old season by 9 lengths. At 3, Covfefe took the G3 Miss Preakness Stakes by 8 lengths, shattering a 29-year-old track record. She then triumphed in the prestigious G1 Test Stakes and capped her season with an emphatic victory in the G1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, becoming only the second 3 year old to win the Championship race. She was honored with Eclipse Awards as Champion 3YO Filly and Champion Female Sprinter in 2019 - the first time a filly has won both in a season.

EPICENTER

Epicenter was purchased for $260,000 at a Keeneland Yearling sale. He would go on to capture the G2 Risen Star and the G2 Louisiana Derby on his way to placing 2nd in the KY Derby followed by a 5.5 length romp in the G1 Travers Stakes.

 

ECHO ZULU

Echo Zulu was purchased for $300,000 at a Keeneland Yearling sale. Echo Zulu would go undefeated as a two-year-old winning three G1 races including the Spinaway, Frizette, and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She would then be crowned as the Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old filly.

UNTAPABLE

Untapable won 5 Grade 1 races including the Vistoria Oaks as well as the Breeder’s Cup Distaff. She would then be honored with an Eclipse Award for Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.

COUNTRY HOUSE

After Country House broke his maiden impressively at Gulfstream Park in January 2019, he went on to become the 145th winner of the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby, cementing his place in racing history.

SILVER STATE

Silver State was purchased in 2018 for $450,000. An impressive maiden winner on debut, Silver State went on to place in the G3 LeComte and G2 Risen Star at Fair Grounds. He returned to racing in October of his 3YO year and rattled off 6 straight wins including four Stakes wins, the last two being the G2 Oaklawn Handicap and the prestigious G1 Metropolitan Handicap.

THUNDER GULCH

Thunder Gulch was purchased after finishing 4th in the Grade 3 Nashua as a two-year-old. He would immediately go on to victories in the Grade 2 Remsen, Grade 2 Fountain of Youth, and Grade 1 Florida Derby on his way to winning the 1995 edition of the Kentucky Derby. He would then go on to win the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes as well as the Grade 1 Travers Stakes. He would retire to stud duty in 1996 and was pensioned from stud duty in 2015 until he passed away in March of 2018.
